The fashion designer and pop culture icon has spoken up about her rift with her son, Brooklyn Peltz-Beckham, sharing her thoughts for the first time. The interview follows the explosive statements made on Brooklyn’s social media earlier this year, where he claimed his parents wanted to ruin his relationship with Nicola Peltz-Beckham and made it clear that he wasn’t interested in reconciling with them.

Beckham was recently featured on The Wall Street Journal, discussing her growing business and her family life, which has attracted much of the media attention for the past few months. In the interview, she defended herself and her husband, David Beckham, saying that they weren’t trying to “control the narratives” around their son and their lives. She also denied claims that she and her husband wanted to ruin Brooklyn’s relationship with Nicola.
“Being a parent of young adult children and adult children, gosh, I mean, it’s very different from having little children,” she said. “I think that we’re trying to do the best we can.”

“I think that we’ve always — we love our children so much,” she continued. “We’ve always tried to be the best parents that we can be. And you know, we’ve been in the public eye for more than 30 years right now, and all we’ve ever tried to do is protect our children and love our children. And you know, that’s all I really want to say about it.”
She steered the conversation back to her business, making it clear that the negative press coverage hadn’t made an impact. “I think that ultimately people are buying my product because the product is really good. I don’t think they’re buying my eyeliner just because it’s me.”
The reporter noted that Beckham didn’t address Brooklyn by name throughout the interview.

Victoria’s other children
In the interview, Beckham also discussed her other kids and their pursuits, sharing that her 21-year-old son Cruz was on his first tour, and had taken “a grassroots approach” to his music.
Of her 14-year-old daughter, Harper, she praised her kindness and sweetness. “She’s very sweet, she’s very kind, she works hard, and she’s also very appropriate, which I think is really important as well.”
