NEW YORK CITY (PIX11) — A beloved New York City restaurant known for its juicy brisket and barbecue will serve its final plate this spring.
Dinosaur Bar-B-Que broke the news on social media that its Gowanus location will close after 15 years.
“Dinosaur Bar-B-Que Brooklyn has been more than just a restaurant. It’s been a place for friends, families, first dates, celebrations, and plenty of unforgettable nights in Gowanus,” the social media post said.
The restaurant had reached the end of its lease, and the building is set to be demolished to make way for a new apartment building, according to the social post.

While Dinosaur Bar-B-Que doesn’t have an exact closing date yet, the business owners continue to welcome their beloved customers with their famous Texas-style meats and drinks.
“We came to eat lunch for our first restaurant visit out with our baby when she was about 3 months old, since we knew we’d have a great meal. We’ll miss it!!!,” wrote one person on Instagram.
“We had my son‘s high school graduation dinner there – so many good memories at the Dino – you will be missed!” wrote another.
Despite its Southern influences, Dinosaur Bar-B-Que was born out of Syracuse, New York, in 1988 to provide quick service and high-quality food for bikers. It marked its NYC expansion with its first location in Harlem in 2004.
