The National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) ruled April 2 that Amazon broke federal labor law when refused to recognize a union at its Staten Island warehouse. The NLRB ordered Amazon to recognize the union and begin contract negotiations. Over 5,000 warehouse workers at the JFK8 facility in Staten Island voted to certify an independent union on April 1, 2022; that union later affiliated with the Teamsters.

Amazon has argued that the NLRB itself is unconstitutional and sued to block the agency from enforcing its orders.
