BROOKLYN, N.Y. (PIX11) — Mini elephant toys will soon drop from the sky in New York City.
The annual Dumbo Drop returns on May 29, featuring two parachute drops at 5 p.m. and 7 p.m., with thousands of toy elephants expected to float down from rooftops surrounding Washington Street.
Viewing tickets can be purchased online. Proceeds from the drop benefit Dumbo’s Title I public schools, PS 307 Elementary and The Dock Street Middle School.
Each year, the elephants feature a parachute designed by a neighborhood artist. This year, organizers said the design will be done by Christian Vera.
“Dumbo Drop is one of the most unique and memorable sights in New York City,” said Alexandria Sica, president of the Dumbo Improvement District. “You won’t want to miss this, and we are so proud to put on this event and raise funds for our neighborhood schools.”
