QUEENS, N.Y. (PIX11) — Police tracked down and seized two vehicles in connection with a fiery car meetup that disrupted a Queens neighborhood over the weekend, Council Member Phil Wong said on Tuesday.

Despite the seizure, there have been no arrests related to the incident. Videos circulating online show a group of people lighting a ring of fire and performing dangerous car stunts at the intersection of Eliot Avenue and 69 Street early Saturday morning.

Wong says he was informed of the seizures by Police Commissioner Jessica Tisch, but he’s calling for more officers and patrols, as well as quicker responses to such incidents.

“It’s unacceptable and can’t be tolerated,” said Council Member Oscar Feliz, from the Bronx, who says the borough has also been disrupted by so-called car meetups.

Videos have flooded social media showing big crowds gathering around cars late at night, blasting music, speeding through streets, and doing doughnuts throughout Queens.

“They shouldn’t be doing those things in the middle of the street. We need to be safe,” said Rosa, a Queens resident.

“They could’ve hit the shop, they could’ve crashed into the gas stations, and they’re lighting fires, in between two gas stations is absolutely crazy,” said Sam McCarthy, a manager whose business was nearby the Queens incident.

Police say they were called to the intersection of Eliot Avenue and 69th Street just before 2 a.m. on Saturday and dispersed a crowd using lights and sirens. Officers observed a blue car, a silver BMW X3, and a white BMW at the scene.

During the dispersal, three people jumped onto the hood of an NYPD vehicle and cracked the windshield before escaping in another car, according to authorities.

A video posted on social media shows a similar incident in the Bronx a few months earlier, depicting three cars simultaneously doing stunts and masked men doing backflips off of NYPD vehicles.

The NYPD says it will continue to regularly monitor locations prone to car meetups and deploy officers to patrol them.
