* As the defensive team came together to work as a group, defensive coordinator Dennard Wilson was easy to hear. There was a focus on all levels to move in unison according to the play called on defense and the look the offense was giving. Players needed to hit the right landmarks and flow to the right areas based on where the quarterback looked on a play. You could hear the defenders talking to one another before each rep to make sure everyone was on the same page.
* Kickers Jason Sanders and Ben Sauls combined to go 9-for-9 on field goals, with both hitting kicks from 30, 33, 36, and 39 yards. Sauls hit an additional kick from 45 yards away.
* After a session focusing on the run and play-action game, the next period was 7-on-7. Jaxson Dart started the period with a quick completion to Darius Slayton on the sideline. He hit Isaiah Likely between the split safeties down the field on the next play, but safety Tyler Nubin was in great position to make a play on the tight end if contact was permitted. On the next play, Jevón Holland came down quickly on a short pass to the right and would have been in position for a quick tackle. The defensive backs reacting quickly and closing in on short completions was a common theme throughout practice. Cornerback Paulson Adebo would do it later on after a completion to wide receiver Darius Slayton.
* Cornerback Deonte Banks played good coverage on a deep play, staying on top of it and knocking the pass away in the middle of the field. Likely made another nice catch, completing a difficult grab on a low throw.
* Dart finished the period by completing a pretty back-shoulder throw to Darnell Mooney down the right sideline for a big gain.
* During the final two passing-focused team periods, Dart showed off his mobility to navigate the pocket and scramble on a couple of plays. Wide receiver Courtney Jackson won on a deep over route with Dart putting the pass right on the money down the field.
* The defense had its moments with Roy Robertson-Harris, Brian Burns, Kayvon Thibodeaux and others finding their way into the backfield on a couple pass plays. Cam Jones had good pursuit to the sideline on a pass completed to a running back. Rico Payton played excellent coverage down the field on a pass to Isaiah Hodgins. Swayze Bozeman was in great position for a quick stop after a completion in the flat. Holland played good coverage on Darnell Mooney down the field over the middle of the field to prevent a deep completion. In the final team period, Paulson Adebo knocked a pass away to prevent a completion.
