BROOKLYN, N.Y. (PIX11) – A controversial natural gas pipeline is under development in New York City after initially being deemed unsafe, says Laura Shindell, New York State director of Food & Water Watch.

Shindell, whose organization is challenging the pipeline in court, joins PIX on Politics Daily to discuss the project. She tells PIX11 News’ Henry Rosoff it’s a huge threat to New York’s waterways.

“The cost of building the pipeline gets passed down to rate payers,” she said. “Not to mention, it locks New York into decades more of fossil fuel reliance and use.”
