BROOKLYN, Ill. (First Alert 4) – Brooklyn, Illinois, received $2 million in federal funding to transform its community center.
Local leaders hope to turn the building that sits right next to City Hall into a multi-functional space for community activities.
Congresswoman Nikki Budzinski, who helped secure the funding, said there will be education programs, workforce development and community engagement events at the transformed space.
“It will serve as a safe, inclusive space for community members to get access to resources, develop skills, and collaborate on initiatives that will uplift the local economy and promote social cohesion,” Budzinski said.
After getting guidance from the federal government, Brooklyn leaders will be able to access the money and then begin construction.
