The New York Giants selected Notre Dame wide receiver Malachi Fields with the 74th overall pick in the 2026 NFL draft after trading up with the Cleveland Browns.
New York sent its 105th and 145th selections, along with a 2027 fourth-round pick, to Cleveland to acquire the third-round choice.
Fields, a 6-foot-4, 218-pound boundary receiver from Charlottesville, Virginia, transferred to Notre Dame for his redshirt senior season after four years at Virginia. In 48 career games, he recorded 165 receptions for 2,479 yards and 16 touchdowns.
During his 2025 campaign with the Fighting Irish, he caught 36 passes for 630 yards and five touchdowns, averaging 17.5 yards per reception.
Scouts and draft analysts describe Fields as a physical X-receiver who leverages elite size, strength, and ball skills to dominate contested catches and contribute in the run game. While his route running and initial quickness need refinement, he consistently wins in tight windows and draws comparisons to Michael Pittman Jr.
