Fire marshals are investigating the cause of a two-alarm fire at 1091 Wilhomr St. in Brownsville, Brooklyn, on Sunday morning.
The fire broke out in a top-floor apartment just before 10:15 a.m. on April 26. Some 100 firefighters and paramedics rushed to the location, authorities said.
According to a firefighter at the scene, the fire was located in the back bedroom but extended into the cockloft, the area between the ceiling and the roof of the six-story building.

To gain the upper hand, units were forced to pull the ceiling down; firefighters used three hoselines to knock down the main body of the blaze. Searches throughout the building were negative, the FDNY said.
The 15th Division placed the fire under control shortly after 11 a.m. The fire left multiple residents and pets displaced. The Red Cross will be assisting the residents with temporary housing.
A resident told amNewYork, “I smelled a very strong odor of smoke, and then the lights began to flicker.”
Another witness said the firefighters put their masks on and were calling for water on the fourth floor of the building.
The fire remains under investigation.
