BUSHWICK – A YOUNG MAN was stabbed to death outside a Bushwick bar in the early hours of Sunday morning, while another was left wounded, police said.
Officers responded to Marco’s at 1071 Broadway for a 911 call about an assault at around 1:45 a.m. on Sunday, April 26. At the scene, they found Amare Simmons, 26, of Manhattan, with a stab wound to the abdomen and a slash wound to the face, and another man, 28, with a slash in the left arm. Both victims were brought to Wyckoff Heights Medical Center, where Simmons succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased; the other victim is in stable condition.
Police said that a knife was recovered at the scene and two persons of interest were taken into custody; it was unclear whether the living victim was one of the suspects. Sources told the New York Post that the incident began with an argument.
The investigation remains active and ongoing, police said.
