DOWNTOWN – BROOKLYN FAMILIES ARE invited to the free annual “Show Brooklyn Some Love” festival this Mother’s Day weekend at Albee Square on the Fulton Mall, featuring live performances, crafts and workshops, a free flower bar, sweet treats and more.
The highlight is Brooklyn’s biggest free flower bar, where attendees can build a signature bouquet for mom. The Mark Morris Dance Group and the Friends of Abolitionist Place will be holding dance classes, while Hope for Desperate Hearts will present an African drumming performance. UrbanGlass will host bead-making workshops, and the Brooklyn Museum on Wheels and the Red Hook Art Project will offer other interactive art projects and activities. Inside, select vendors are offering $1 dessert specials at the DeKalb Market.
The event takes place on May 9, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Class schedules and more information can be found on co-host Brooklyn Org’s website.
Organizers Brooklyn Org, City Point and Brooklyn Bridge Parents in a statement wrote that the festival honors mothers and “the often-unseen labor of caregiving, inviting Brooklynites to celebrate and support the people who hold communities together.”
