CHELSEA, Manhattan (PIX11) — Get a taste of Japan in New York City when the largest sake tasting event returns to Manhattan this week.
New Yorkers will be able to experience The Joy of Sake with unlimited samplings of 492 competition-level drinks at the Metropolitan Pavilion on Thursday from 6:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. Tickets are on sale for $147.99, inclusive of tastings and food.

Visitors will be able to experience sakes from every brewing region in Japan, including 293 sakes not otherwise available in the U.S. Bottles from local sake breweries will also be available to sample like drinks from Brooklyn Kura and Dassai Blue in Hudson Valley.
In between sips, visitors can indulge in sake-inspired appetizers like deviled egg with toro tartar, broccoli with tofu cream and caviar, Hamachi temaki, king salmon crudo, bluefin tuna and scallions, kakuni Japanese braised pork belly and matcha and hojicha tiramisu.

“Joy of Sake is the celebration that sake lovers in New York look forward to every year,” said event founder Chris Pearce. “Nowhere else can you find such a wide variety of labels to sample at one time.”
The Joy of Sake is a non-profit organization dedicated to celebrating and fostering appreciation for the craft of sake-making. It began in 2001 in Honolulu with 124 sakes and grew to 587 drinks by 2025, staging events in major cities.
