Sarah Kinsley brought her Fleeting tour back home to Brooklyn, NY for the last show of its first leg, and I spent most of it with my mouth agape. Aside from catching a few songs at her performance during All Things Go in NYC last fall, I was unfamiliar with Kinsley heading into last night’s show at Brooklyn Steel. And I’m glad I was, because… wow. As the night went on, I only got more and more impressed.
Kinsley’s voice was simultaneously nostalgic and new, and filled Brooklyn Steel in a way that I haven’t heard in a while. It felt like her voice was encircling the venue and then me in a warm embrace—especially during her long vocalizing near the end of “The Giver.” Visually, the lighting setup was simple yet astoundingly beautiful, and filled up the whole room as much as her signing does.

Also filling the room was a very packed crowd, many of whom were dancing and singing along the whole night. And we were all treated to some news from Kinsley that in a few weeks she will be releasing an EP of some songs they have been playing on tour.
Kinsley closed out the show out with “Fleeting,” off of her most recent EP of the same name. This song felt so reminiscent of happy 90s Cher-adjacent pop, and I felt like I was witnessing a similarly special performance of an artist on the precipice of being a massive success.
