Believe in ghosts? You just might if you pass through Maple Grove Cemetery in Kew Gardens on Sunday, May 3.
That’s when the Friends of Maple Grove will host one of their most popular and intriguing events, Spirits Alive.
“The Past is Waiting to Meet You,” reads the kicker above the headline on the Friends’ Spirits Alive flier, which then promises, “History Steps Out of the Shadows! Discover new stories and unforgettable characters waiting among the paths of Maple Grove.” Spooky but educational.
The event, a self-guided educational tour offered from 2:30 to 4:30 p.m., features actors in period costume portraying various people buried at Maple Grove, “sharing dramatic stories drawn from the lives of those who shaped our community.”
Spirits Alive is free, though donations are accepted. Parking is free, and the pedestrian entrance to the necropolis is at Kew Gardens Road and Lefferts Boulevard.
