Manhattan High baseball rolled past Topeka High in a doubleheader sweep Wednesday at Hummer Sports Park, winning 10-0 and 20-0.

The Indians (12-4) used early offense in both games to take control, outscoring the Trojans 30-0 across the two contests.

Manhattan finished its Cenntennial Leauge slate with the sweep. The Indians went 7-2 against league opponents. In the 6A West standings, Manhattan sits in fifth place, just ahead of Topeka, which fell to 8-7.

In the opener, Brayson Gnirk plated one run in the first and then the Indians broke things open in the second inning, plating nine runs to create immediate separation.

Mclain Aslin jumpstarted the rally with an RBI single and later added a two-run double. Greyson Wassenberg and Jack Crocker each drove in a run, while walks, a wild pitch and an error brought Manhattan to its 10-0 lead early.

Aslin led the offense, going 2-for-3 with three RBIs, while Crocker added two hits and an RBI. The Indians were aggressive on the bases, swiping eight stolen bases, with Riland Boyer, Sawyer Newton and Aslin each recording multiple steals.

Gnirk earned the win on the mound, allowing two hits over four scoreless innings while striking out six. Liam Nider added a scoreless inning in relief, allowing one hit with one strikeout.

Game 2 followed a similar script, as Manhattan again jumped ahead early and never looked back in a 20-0, three-inning mercy win.

This time, the Indians plated 13 runs in the first inning before adding three in the second and four more in the third. Manhattan finished with 15 hits and continued to apply pressure throughout the lineup.

Jackson Goos led the way, going 3-for-4 with three RBIs and three runs scored. Asher Newton added a 2-for-3 performance with two RBIs and three runs, while Zach Conley went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs scored.

Maddox Hodges drove in three runs on two hits, and Liam Nider added two hits and two RBIs. Easton Duff chipped in a hit, an RBI and two walks, while Sawyer Newton reached base three times, scoring three runs.

Carter Goodpasture pitched the first two innings, recording five strikeouts across his six outs, while allowing a pair of hits and a walk. Boyer closed out the game with a hitless third inning.

Manhattan will look to keep the momentum going as it hosts Liberal at Cico Park on Saturday, with the opener’s first pitch scheduled for 11 a.m.
