MIDTOWN, Manhattan (PIX11) — The voices of workers are rising across the city, and they’re not waiting to be heard.
In just a few hours, hundreds are expected to gather for one of several May Day protests happening across New York City on Friday.
The first one is set to begin at 8 a.m., starting with a rally on the steps of the New York Public Library, followed by a march down Fifth Avenue, and ending right near the Amazon offices on West 34th Street.
Organizers are calling this “Amazon Delivers ICE,” part of a broader push to highlight concerns over labor conditions and immigration enforcement.

From Manhattan to cities across the county, May Day is being marked by what organizers are calling “May Day Strong,” with more than 100 unions backing a nationwide day of action under the message: no work, no school, no shopping.
In the city, protests will continue into the afternoon and evening, including a major rally in Washington Square Park and a transit workers’ demonstration downtown.
Expect street closures along Fifth Avenue, increased police presence, and heavy foot traffic through Midtown.
