Control Resonant was showcased during a special presentation at Gamescom Latin America, where Remedy Entertainment shared a new developer diary and fresh details on the upcoming sequel to Control. The follow-up is currently scheduled to release in 2026 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, PC via Steam and Epic Games Store.
The project is being developed and published by Remedy, with Annapurna Pictures co-financing and co-producing as part of an ongoing partnership between the two companies. The original Control, released in 2019, established Remedy’s modern direction with its blend of third-person action and surreal storytelling centered around the Federal Bureau of Control and the shifting Oldest House.
The developer diary shown at the event focuses on how the team approached building this new setting, highlighting the transition from the brutalist interiors of the Oldest House to a wider, outdoor space that still retains the series’ surreal tone. Art direction emphasizes a city that feels familiar at first glance but is constantly shifting and breaking its own rules.
During the presentation, Creative Director Mikael Kasurinen and the team outlined how Control Resonant expands beyond the Oldest House into a reimagined version of Manhattan. The new setting is described as a distorted city shaped by paranatural forces, where reality itself bends under the influence of a cosmic threat. According to the developers, this shift allows for larger, more open environments compared to the confined spaces of the original game.
Players take on the role of Dylan Faden, exploring multiple areas of Manhattan as the environment is reshaped by unnatural forces that alter gravity and physical laws. The game introduces a progression system tied to abilities that evolve based on player choices. Combat once again leans heavily on environmental interaction, alongside elemental powers and a transforming melee weapon known as the Aberrant.
