Led by a medalist finish from Charlie Haney, Manhattan High boys’ golf placed 13th while Wamego took seventh in a competitive, multi-class field at the Rusty Hilst Hutchinson Invitational at Carey Park on Friday.
Haney paced the Indians with a three-under 69, finishing third individually.
The Red Raiders were led by a runner-up finish from Regan Kueker, as the senior shot a five-under 65, finishing one stroke behind Shawnee Mission East’s Stuart Boulware.
Shawnee Mission East claimed the team title with a 282, while Bishop Carroll finished second (290) and Kapaun Mt. Carmel took third (293).
Manhattan finished with a team score of 311. Cooper Graham shot a 79 to place 69th, while Harvey Lister carded an 80 (75th). Cade Cochran added an 83 (90th) and Will Carpenter shot a 93.
For Wamego, Breckin Miller followed Kueker with a 73 to place 14th. Joel Schiel tallied a 79 (62nd), while Eli Neff shot an 84 and Tate Winter carded an 85, placing 101st and 113th, respectively.
Manhattan returns to action Tuesday at the Centennial League Championship, hosted by Hayden at Lake Shawnee.
