Four women, who allege they were sexually abused by Jeffrey Epstein as minors, testified before the state Senate’s Codes Committee in Albany on Monday.
The women spoke in support of a bill that would alter the state’s sex trafficking laws to allow victims to seek punitive damages from the estates of abusers who have died.
The bill would also create a one-year look-back period for victims to sue outside the statute of limitations.
Brooklyn state Sen. Zellnor Myrie joined NY1 political anchor Errol Louis on “Inside City Hall” Monday to discuss the testimony and what the bill would mean for victims of sexual abuse.
“I think it’s important that New York [steps] in and fill the gap,” he said.
