Chaka Khan, Patti LaBelle, Gladys Knight and Stephanie Mills are set to perform in a joint concert at Dickies Arena on May 8.
FORT WORTH, Texas — There are concerts, and then there are moments.
This Mother’s Day weekend, North Texas is getting the kind of moment that feels bigger than music. Four legendary voices. Four women whose songs have carried generations on one stage.
Chaka Khan. Patti LaBelle. Gladys Knight. Stephanie Mills. They are simply known as The Queens, and when they got the call to tour together, there was no hesitation.
“I said yes real fast,” LaBelle shared, laughing as the group recalled how it all came together. “We all said yes. And the fact is that we all worked together before and then to have all four of us together is like having four Black women just singing. Not competing. Just singing.”
The word together kept coming up. In an industry that often pushes comparison, the Queens are choosing collaboration, camaraderie and joy. For fans, that energy is the heartbeat of the show. “I hope they feel good,” Chaka Khan said. “I hope they feel what we feel. We’re just giving a lot of love.”
“The show is energetic. It’s full of love,” Stephanie Mills added. “We are really singing. We have live musicians. When people come, they’re going to leave feeling uplifted.”
That emphasis on real music matters to them. Deeply. No shortcuts. No tracks doing the work. Just voices, a band and decades of mastery. “It’s important to do the real,” LaBelle explained. “Back in the day, that’s what we did and that’s what we’re still doing. Giving you something you can feel.”
Maybe that is what makes this moment so special.
