ClosingDonohue’s Steak House

This old-school steak house and Irish pub that opened in 1950 is calling it quits. It will linger for another month or so. Like other Upper East Siders, it already has a second home in the Hamptons, Donohue’s East, something of a replica in Westhampton Beach. Now, Maureen Donohue-Peters, an owner, has plans for another Long Island location.

Enrique Olvera and his Casamata group will close his second New York restaurant on May 31 after nearly 10 years. In an email statement, Mr. Olvera said he thought the restaurant enjoyed a good run and he was proud of how it seemed to energize the neighborhood, but that it was “time for the next chapter.” They plan a new concept to replace it in the fall.

On the MenuLe Burger

The IYKYK burger is old news. So Angie Mar, once a purveyor of such a much-lauded item at the Beatrice Inn, is going full reveal starting Friday at her restaurant Le B. A thick eight-ounces, mostly of dry-aged rib-eye with some brisket, short rib and chuck, comes on a custom brioche bun with double-crème Brie seeping in, all crowned with a tangle of Bordeaux braised onions, with a side of matchstick potatoes; $60 to $74 depending on beef prices. Some other Beatrice Inn dishes will also be on the menu throughout the summer.

To commemorate the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence we got the visit from King Charles III. Perhaps coincidentally, the famous English sweet tooth has also landed, with bars, small chocolates and more. A first taste of this English company’s single-origin chocolate opened last month on the Upper East Side and is now followed by a grander flagship in Midtown, their first international locations. These “chocolate houses,” founded by Claire and Andy Burnet in 2002, also serve hot chocolate, coffees, matcha, ice cream and pastries.
