Deputy Mayor for Economic Justice Julie Su has been tasked with helping Mayor Zohran Mamdani deliver on his affordability agenda and is focusing on protections for the city’s workers and consumers.

Su was the former acting U.S. Secretary of Labor under the Biden administration and California’s Labor Secretary.

She joined NY1 political anchor on “Inside City Hall” Tuesday to break down her role and the Mamdani administration’s approach to economic development.

“I am the first-ever deputy mayor for economic justice in the city of New York. And the vision here is to make sure that in the richest city and the richest country in the world, that every single person can live with dignity. No one should feel disposable,” Su said.
