Maison McKay was crowned the 2013 Eastern District Boxing Scotland 40kg champion at Grangemouth earlier this month.
The youngster, who boxes out of Tranent’s Bronx Boxing Club, is keen to keep progressing in the ring.
His proud dad Gregg said: “He has been training for boxing since he was seven years old.
“It is just kind of his passion since then.
“He started to get actual bouts after being 10 but it is in the last year where he has been really, really successful.
“He has been training five nights a week at the Bronx, Monday to Friday.
“They have been getting him put into various competitions and he has done fantastic.
“It is such a positive story for a young lad from the area.
“I think it is the training and the dedication he likes the most.
“It gives him something to work on and challenge himself against constantly.
“He has got that drive and need to get better and develop.”
The 12-year-old has already fought across Scotland and previously claimed gold at the prestigious King of the Ring tournament in Sweden against top international talent.
Maison, who travels from Midlothian, where he attends Lasswade High School, for his training sessions, will soon return to Sweden for the tournament.
His dad will be cheering him on and added: “It is quite an emotional affair.
“In the run-up to the fights, I am a lot more nervous than him.
“I am really confident in his ability but you know what it is like as a father.
“You want to see him do well and I know he is so passionate about it.
“You are nervous and anxious but obviously I am bursting with pride.
“He has done absolutely fantastic.”
