Every sandwich at Sosa’s Sandwich Shop tells a story. And every story in Eddie Sosa’s vibrant life created a sandwich and he invites you to bring your appetite and enjoy one of his extraordinary creations. Located in an Uber take-out/pick-up kitchen in Astoria, Sosa’s storied sandwiches are a couple of clicks away, or just call Eddie directly.
Sosa’s Sandwich Shop is decidedly NOT a deli, nor a brick-and-mortar eatery. It’s become a sensation thanks to fans’ stories, videos, photos on social media, and YouTube. In fact, on YouTube, Eddie himself describes the story behind every sandwich and how he prepares it. The “Arthur Avenue” evokes some of his earliest memories in the Bronx with his grandmother, eating pork chops with vinegar peppers at Dominic’s on Arthur Avenue. I could only eat half of this outrageously delicious sandwich, made with a whole pork chop and vinegar peppers on the crustiest, chewiest Ciabatta bread.
“It’s a journey of memories,” says sandwich craftsman, Eddie Sosa, who grew up in Queens to a Colombian, Puerto Rican, and Dominican family. Food was always central to his childhood and that explains all his unique creations. “That Cuban” struck him on a trip to Miami, where he had the best Cuban sandwich of his life…until he started making his own. Sosa’s Cuban is loaded with roast pork shoulder, grilled ham, melty Swiss cheese, and tangy pickles on toasted baguette from local Parisi Bakery. Grilled and pressed, the bread has a warm crunch that you bite into, unleashing a flavor bomb in your mouth. Call now and get “That Cuban” ($20).

Sosa makes his own dough for the “Belly Bao,” a delightful bao bun filled with pork belly marinated in mango, fig, and ginger, topped with shredded daikon and pickled carrots for a soft, savory, tangy treat. The “Bistec” is tender, crispy breaded beef resting on black bean mousse, mojo mayo, arugula, and tomato on a toasted, buttered hero ($18). Tender Tandoori chicken is piled on to homemade Naan bread with another tale behind its creation. The “Jamaica Avenue” is an homage to the classic Jamaican beef patty, made here from scratch with ground chuck and oxtail, special spices and that golden crust, served inside traditional island coco bread ($10). “The Shelly” is a riff on a friend’s Korean BBQ sliders, named for her, and a favorite amongst his kids ($15).
Wash down these hefty sandwiches with homemade horchata, lemonade, sorrel ginger lemonade and more. Desserts are just as impressive too, with Asian pear strudel and individual chocolate raspberry cakes. Sosa’s Sandwiches will cater your party at home or in the office, so call now.
