Firefighters On Scene of Early Morning Blaze in Little Falls

5/7; 9:35 a.m.—From NYS Police Troop D:

“On May 7, 2026, at approximately 2:49 a.m., State Police responded to 6213 State Route 5 in the town of Little Falls for a reported residential structure fire.

“Preliminary investigation indicates that four individuals were inside the home at the time of the fire. Two occupants were pronounced deceased at the scene. Two additional occupants were transported for medical treatment. One individual was transported to Wynn Hospital and later transferred to Upstate University Hospital for treatment of facial burns and smoke inhalation. Another individual remains at Wynn Hospital being treated for smoke inhalation.

“The New York State Office of Fire Prevention and Control responded to the scene and is assisting with the investigation. At this time, there are no suspicious circumstances surrounding the fire.

“Responding agencies on scene included Little Falls Fire Department, Herkimer Fire Department, Middleville Fire Department, Saint Johnsville Fire Department, Ilion Fire Department, East Herkimer Fire Department, German Flatts Fire Department, and Salisbury Fire Department.”

LITTLE FALLS, N.Y. — Firefighters are on the scene of a fire at a building in Little Falls on St. Rt. 5.

NEWSChannel 2 arrived on scene around 3:30 a.m. when fire crews were still fighting the blaze in the area of 6213 Rt. 5.

No word on if anybody was inside or if there were any injuries.

When our crew arrived, there was an ambulance with flashing lights leaving the scene. National Grid was also on scene.

A portion of Rt. 5 is closed in both directions between Eatonville Road and Gun Club Road.
