The MTA has been holding a series of workshops about the Interborough Express, getting feedback from residents, business owners and community leaders about how a light rail project connecting Brooklyn to Queens would impact daily life.
While the line could make some commutes faster, there are other factors like construction and pricing out residents.
Barika Williams, the executive director of the Association for Neighborhood and Housing Development, joined “The Rush Hour” on Thursday to discuss the potential impacts of IBX and the needs for communities that would feel the greatest effects.
“We have folks across the arc who are interested in this and have concerns, thinking how are we protecting existing homeowners from being priced out, how are we creating new homeownership opportunities, and not pushing out longstanding small business,” she said.
