BROOKLYN, New York (WABC) — A man is dead and another is injured after being struck by a van in Brooklyn on Wednesday night.

Noach Klein was identified as one of the two pedestrians hit and was pronounced dead at Maimonides Medical Center.

The other, a 54-year-old man, is in stable condition.

Officers responded to 4819 18th Ave. around 6:30 p.m. for reports of two pedestrians struck.

Police say it appeared that a 38-year-old man was driving a Ford Transit 250, traveling northbound on 18th Avenue, when he struck both men.

The 38-year-old driver remained on scene and was not immediately charged.

Community members identify Klein as a longtime borough park business owner, operating Unique Sterlingfor nearly five decades, first on 13th Avenue before moving to its current location on 18th Avenue.

The investigation is ongoing.
