Manhattan High girls’ soccer split its road trip this week, shutting out Wichita Northwest 4-0 on Tuesday before falling 4-1 to unbeaten Hayden on Thursday.
The Indians moved to 7-5-1 with the win over Wichita Northwest before dropping Thursday’s matchup against one of the top teams in the state. Hayden improved to 13-0 on the season with the victory.
Against Wichita Northwest, Manhattan controlled the match from the start, building a 2-0 halftime lead before adding two more goals in the second half.
Avarye Meeker paced the Indians with two goals, while Lauren Booe and Lexie Oehme each added a goal and an assist. Savanna Heitmann and Ava Connell each contributed assists in the win.
Manhattan’s defense also held firm, recording the shutout behind four saves from goalkeeper Jocelynn Gawith.
The road trip concluded Thursday against Hayden, one of the state’s top programs. The Wildcats entered the contest undefeated and improved to 13-0 with the 4-1 win.
Despite the loss, Manhattan became just the third team to score against Hayden this season.
Up next, Manhattan hosts its final home contest against Blue Valley-Stilwell on Saturday, with varsity kickoff at noon.
