If you’re looking for an authentic Caribbean food experience in the heart of New York City, look no further than Jerk House. With four locations across the city, including a bustling Midtown spot, this joint is serving up steaming plates of Caribbean classics all day long. From fall-off-the-bone ribs to their signature jerk chicken, there’s a reason New Yorkers can’t get enough.
A Feast for the Senses
The experience begins the moment you step inside and see their open kitchen, packed with fragrant, steaming dishes. We kicked things off with a Ting, a popular Caribbean sparkling grapefruit soda, to set the mood for the spice to come.
The Main Event: Jerk and More
We didn’t hold back on the menu, and every dish was a winner:
Spicy Jerk Ribs & Mac and Cheese: Their house-baked mac and cheese is so gooey it could stretch to the ceiling! We paired it with their spicy jerk ribs, smothered in a killer barbecue rib sauce. The meat is the definition of “fall-off-the-bone.”
Curry Goat & Rasta Pasta: For a true taste of Jamaica, we tried the slow-cooked, Jamaican-spiced curry goat served alongside creamy rasta pasta and sweet plantains. It’s a flavor explosion that will transport you straight to the islands.
Oxtail & Shrimp Fried Rice: A customer favorite for a reason! The tender oxtail is served with plenty of rich oxtail gravy, shrimp fried rice, and steaming cabbage.
Signature Jerk Chicken: Made to order on the grill, the chicken is constantly slathered in a buttery jerk marinade and their house-made jerk sauce. It’s aggressively chopped and served over rice with sweet plantains and cabbage.
The Main Event: Jerk and More
If you’re a wing lover, you have to try their Sweet Chili Wings. Beautifully breaded and fried, they’re covered in a house-made sauce that is so good, you won’t even mind the mess. We also sampled the Crispy Chopped Fried Chicken, which was perfectly crunchy and served with—you guessed it—more of that delicious oxtail gravy.
The Grand Finale
We finished our feast with the Jamaican Jerk Pork, grilled and slathered in jerk marinade, jerk sauce, and melted butter. It’s aggressively chopped and topped with even more jerk and barbecue sauces.
Jerk House is more than just a meal; it’s a celebration of Caribbean culture and flavor. If you see their iconic wall art, you know you’re in for something amazing.
