NEW JERSEY — HON. THEODORE T. JONES, a revered and iconic figure in the judiciary, will be honored by colleagues and friends at the Brooklyn Bar Association’s 14th Annual Memorial Golf Outing May 11.
The event, which is named after the late justice, will take place at the Colonia Country Club in New Jersey. Jones, a member of the BBA for more than 25 years, was a Brooklyn native and St. John’s University School of Law alumnus. He was regarded by many as one of Kings County’s most respected jurists. Jones served as a justice of the New York Supreme Court from 1990 to 2007 and as a judge on the New York Court of Appeals from 2007 until his death in 2012.
Jones was known for his dedication to justice, his efforts to increase diversity within the judiciary and his commitment to reducing wrongful convictions. Born March 10, 1944, he served as a field artillery officer in the U.S. Army and was later stationed in the Republic of Vietnam from June 1968 to July 1969, and earned the rank of captain before relinquishing his commission.
