DOWNTOWN – A BROOKLYN MAN was found guilty on Thursday of coercing two 13-year-old girls to send him nude and sexually explicit images of themselves, Joseph Nocella Jr., U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District of New York, announced in a statement.

A federal jury in Brooklyn convicted Dewitt John, 31, of sexual exploitation of a child and accessing with intent to view child pornography.

In March 2024, John knowingly targeted a 13-year-old girl who had posted photographs of herself on a Reddit forum and sent her money through Cash App in exchange for sexually explicit videos. Despite the victim expressing discomfort and reluctance, John continued to pressure and coerce her into producing the material.

Prosecutors said John also targeted a second 13-year-old victim through similar methods, grooming her and inducing her to send him naked images.

John faces a mandatory minimum sentence of 15 years, and up to life in prison.
