A 1-year-old child is dead and multiple other people, including two other children and three firefighters, are injured after a fire in the Bronx Monday afternoon, officials said.

A call was made just before 3:40 p.m. to report a fire on the second floor at 2609 Bainbridge Ave., according to officials.

The FDNY said the 1-year old and two 6-year-old children were transported to area hospitals with critical injuries. According to the NYPD, the 1-year-old was later pronounced dead.

Another person with serious was also transported to an area hospital, and another person with minor injuries refused medical attention, the FDNY said. Three firefighters who had minor injuries were also transported to area hospitals, according to the FDNY.

A cause for the fire is still under investigation.
