Public beaches to open soon in NYC for the summer: See dates

NEW YORK (PIX11) — It may not be summer quite yet, but beaches will soon open across New York City.

Public beaches will open starting Memorial Day weekend, with lifeguards on duty from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Beach season will run until Sept. 13.

Swimming is not allowed when lifeguards are not on duty and in closed sections, marked by signs or red flags.

The following free, public beaches will open:

Beachgoers can access free SPF 30 sunscreen at dispensers located at all 8 beaches.

New Yorkers can sign up for Notify NYC for real-time opening and closing notifications.
