Rabbi boxer Yuri Foreman to speak at Great Neck library screening

The Great Neck Library will host a screening of the documentary “Lion of Zion” followed by a Q&A session with world champion boxer, Rabbi Yuri Foreman, on Sunday, May 31.

The event, held in honor of Jewish American Heritage Month, is scheduled for 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. at the library’s 159 Bayview Ave. location.

The 32-minute film, directed by Mike Musikanto, explores the life of Foreman, the only world champion boxer from Israel. After losing his title in 2010, Foreman began studying Judaism to explore the intersection of his athletic and spiritual lives, leading to his ordination as a rabbi in 2014. The documentary follows his ongoing ambition to make history as the first rabbi to become a world boxing champion.

Admission to the screening is free and open to the public. No registration is required, though library officials noted that seating will be provided on a first-come, first-served basis.
