Morning rain on Wednesday will transition to scattered showers and a few thunderstorms late afternoon/early evening. Highs on Wednesday will be in the 50s and 60s.

Thursday will be unseasonably cool with lots of clouds and the risk for a few scattered showers. Highs will be in the 50s.

Temperatures are then expected to warm into the 60s and 70s this upcoming weekend with a chance of showers later in the day Saturday.

A New York state Supreme Court justice has vacated the state Public Campaign Finance Board’s decision denying New York Republican gubernatorial nominee Bruce Blakeman millions of dollars of public campaign matching funds.

4. N.Y. state Senate pushes bills targeting surveillance pricing, junk fees, difficult subscription canceling

The New York state Senate is pushing a series of consumer protection bills this week that aim to prohibit bad business practices like surveillance pricing, crack down on junk fees and make it easier to cancel subscriptions. One piece of legislation would eliminate hidden junk fees by requiring sellers to display the total price of a good or service, inclusive of all mandatory fees.

5. U.S. consumer prices rise 3.8% as Iran war sends energy prices higher

The Labor Department’s consumer price index rose 3.8% from April 2025, according to data released Tuesday. On a month-to-month basis, April prices rose 0.6% from March as gasoline prices rose 5.4% during the month; the month-over-month gain was down from 0.9% increase from February to March.

6. Trump to meet with Xi for U.S.-China summit with Iran war, trade and Taiwan on the agenda

President Donald Trump is set to embark on his multiday trip to meet with Chinese leader Xi Jinping on Tuesday afternoon — roughly six weeks after the summit in Beijing was originally planned and then delayed amid the United States’ war with Iran.
