CHARLOTTE, N.C. (WBTV) – A BMW crashed into a tree in a deadly overnight wreck Sunday in south Charlotte, police said on Tuesday.
The deadly single-car crash happened around 2:15 a.m. on Sunday, May 10, along Queens Road West near Freedom Park.
Police said a BMW M3 ran off the right side of the road and struck a tree, killing a passenger identified as 22-year-old Keegan McKeeney. He graduated from Queens University hours before the crash.

All other occupants were extricated by firefighters and rushed to local hospitals. Police have not said how many people were in the car, and their conditions were not immediately known.

Investigators have not said what caused the crash and are working to determine whether speed or impairment was a factor.
