WILTON, N.Y. (WNYT)- New York State Police (NYSP) said a Queens man was arrested after investigators say he collected cash from an elderly Saratoga County scam victim and returned for more.

Troopers got the complaint May 6 from an elderly Saratoga County resident who said they were targeted in a scam, NYSP said. Investigators said the victim got a phone call claiming a family member had been arrested after a vehicle crash and needed money for bail.

Police said Roger K. Flemming, 29, from Queens, went to the victim’s home May 6 and collected more than $3,000 in cash tied to the scam. Troopers said he returned May 7 and tried to collect more cash.

State police said Flemming was arrested May 7 and taken to SP Wilton for processing. Police said he was arraigned in Wilton Town Court and remanded to the Saratoga County Correctional Facility without bail.

The charges are Third-Degree Grand Larceny and Third-Degree Attempted Grand Larceny, according to NYSP. The investigation is ongoing.
