Riley calls for rejection of proposed NYSEG rate hikes

A congressman is calling for action, asking that the State Public Service Commission rejects NYSEG’s proposed rate hikes.

The commission said that the case would be tabled for six months, allowing additional time to review more than 26,000 public comments. However, Rep. Josh Riley said that decision sends parties back to the negotiating table while still permitting a temporary rate increase to move forward.

Customers will see these rate hikes on their next bill, starting June 1.
