Fireworks will “Fly” at the Empire State Plaza’s Fourth of July celebration, headlined by Sugar Ray. The free event kicks off at 5 p.m. on July 4.
Sugar Ray will be joined by Fulton Lee, The Ill Funk Ensemble, DJ Mr. CEO and the New York State military color guard on the main stage. Performances on the north stage include Troy Music Academy and Dance Dimensions.
Additionally, the Fourth of July festivities will coincide with the debut of a new exhibit at the Empire State Plaza, “Battlefields of Liberty: Revolutionary War Sites in New York.” The exhibit, which features historic paintings and maps from significant, local sites of the Revolutionary War, is currently on display at the State Street tunnel entrance to the state capitol.
The celebration will also feature bounce houses, an America 250 costume contest, Revolutionary War reenactors, circus performers, food vendors and, of course, fireworks.
No outside alcohol, glass containers, coolers, personal fireworks or sparklers, audio or video recording of the performance, drones or pets, excluding service animals, are permitted. Bags or personal items are subject to inspection by security or police.
Free parking will be available at the East Parking Garage.
