STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — TJ Maxx, the popular off-price retailer known for selling brand-name and designer merchandise at significant discounts, will open a new store this month.
It will take over the free-standing space on Staten Island Mall property in New Springville, which formerly housed the Container Store.
It is a relocation of the TJ Maxx at 2530 Hylan Blvd., which is expected to close by Monday, May 24.
TJ Maxx will open the new location at 283 Platinum Ave., on Thursday, May 28, starting at 8 a.m. until 10 p.m.
Its regular hours after the grand opening will be 9:30 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. daily.
“We’re thrilled to be in the Staten Island community,” said Nancy Carpenter, president of TJ Maxx. “We look forward to providing local shoppers with an ever-changing selection of high-quality merchandise at exceptional value so they can express their true ‘maxx’ selves.”
The approximately 24,075 square foot store will have an easy-to-shop layout, bright and spacious dressing rooms and a single line queue for faster checkout, according to TJ Maxx.
Shoppers will be able to find thousands of top brands and designers from around the world at discounted prices.
To celebrate this new Staten Island location, TJ Maxx will contribute to the local community by donating $10,000 to Seamen’s Society for Children & Families.
The new store will also join all other stores nationwide in sponsoring Save the Children’s U.S. Programs through TJ Maxx’s annual in-store fundraising campaign, according to the company.
Founded in 1977, TJ Maxx offers a range of apparel, home goods, beauty, and accessories. The brand has operated on Staten Island for decades, and currently maintains three locations in the borough: New Dorp, Port Richmond and Charleston. Its New Dorp location will close and relocate to the new store in New Springville.
Marshalls and HomeGoods are also part of the TJX family of brands.
