QUEENS, N.Y. (PIX11) — When passengers board the shuttle buses at the stations, they will be headed to stations in Queens, many of them to the Jamaica station.
The shuttle buses the MTA has put in place to help commuters this morning will begin arriving by 4:30 a.m.
About 250,000 people rely on the LIRR service every single day.
In anticipation of the workday commute, the MTA has announced the shuttle service from six LIRR stations to Queens.
Many of those buses will bring commuters to the Jamaica station, where about 400 thousand people travel through on average.

From there, they will have to take the subway or MTA buses to wherever they need to go, or take a cab or rideshare services like Uber or Lyft.
Those likely more expensive today because of the increased number of riders on the roads.
Elected officials here in Queens are now concerned about the domino effect this could have on this community.
Donovan Richards, Queens Borough President, said, “I am concerned that there won’t be an increase in Queens express bus service, and although they are doing some minimum work on ensuring that there are more buses coming in from Long Island, that would only serve 13,000 people.”
The Queens Borough President also told us he’s asked the MTA to increase the number of buses and trains to help commuters coming to the area.
