May 19 – Streaming heavyweight DAZN has agreed a deal to broadcast Queens League Spain during the competition’s latest edition next month.
The platform will become an official partner of the women’s seven-a-side competition in Spain, adding another digitally-driven property to its growing portfolio as it pursues its target of younger audiences whilst expanding its women’s football offering.
The new season officially launches today (19 May) with the Queens League Kick-off Night presentation event, where organisers will unveil the latest details surrounding the competition, which will take place from June 3-7.
Originally launched as part of Gerard Piqué’s wider Kings League ecosystem, Queens League has carved out a distinctive space within football’s increasingly blurred entertainment landscape, combining football, influencers, creators and live digital content into a format designed for social-first audiences.
Queens League was keen to emphasise this year’s high-profile lineup spanning football, entertainment and digital media, including FC Barcelona Femení and Spain international Vicky López, television personality Cristina Pedroche, content creators Marina Rivers, Mar Lucas and Clerss, alongside lifestyle entrepreneurs Andrea Garte and Abril Cols.
Queens League organisers say the competition has evolved into an entry point for women’s football fans who engage with the sport primarily through social media, creators and interactive content formats rather than traditional broadcasts.
Marcos Arizmendi, Deputy Chief Product Officer of Kings League Spain and Queens League Spain, said: “Queens League Spain was created with the ambition of reimagining how women’s football is experienced and shared, bringing together sport, content and entertainment within a single ecosystem. Having DAZN as an official partner marks a major step forward as we continue to grow, expand our reach and bring the competition to new audiences.”
DAZN, meanwhile, has looked to position itself at the intersection of sport and entertainment, with women’s sport remaining a strategic priority for the company globally.
Enrique de Porres, SVP Marketing at DAZN Spain, said: “At DAZN we work to connect new generations with sport, and Queens League Spain represents exactly that: a competition that has successfully fused football, entertainment and digital culture in a unique and authentic way.
“This agreement is not simply a broadcast partnership; it is an investment in the future of women’s sport and in the formats that are redefining how young audiences experience and consume sports entertainment. We are delighted to bring the Queens League Spain to our users and to offer the full reach and potential of our platform to a competition that continues to surprise and innovate with every edition.”
