A 17-year-old girl from Connecticut died after an ATV crash in New York earlier this month, according to police.

Shandaken Police Department Chief Chad Storey said officers were called to the hamlet of Phoenicia for an ATV crash around 10:35 a.m. May 10. Police determined a teenager operating an ATV lost control of the vehicle and was ejected, Storey said in a news release.

The operator was taken to HealthAlliance Hospital on Mary’s Avenue, where she died from her injuries, according to Storey.

The girl’s identity was not immediately available Tuesday.
