A deadly storm on Thursday has caused damage across the Tri-State with flooding, downed trees, and flooded subways.

Two people died in separate basement flooding incidents in New York City.

In Yonkers, a tree reportedly struck a closed porch, ripping it off a house on Rockland Avenue.

Streets were flooded at 75th and Fifth Avenue in Bay Ridge.

Numerous cars were stuck in flooded roadways in Bayonne, New Jersey. And a young girl was rescued from a vehicle that was stuck in deep water.

Rounds of heavy rain and wind moved through the NJ, NYC area on Thursday.

A downed tree was reported across East 230th Street at Lowerre Place, in the Wakefield section of the Bronx.

Toppled trees also blocked roads in Corona and Flushing, Queens.

Newark Liberty International Airportis currently experiencing:

inbound flights delayed at their origin an average of 4 hours 25 minutes
all inbound flights being held at their origin until Thursday at 10:30PM EDT
departure delays of 15 minutes to 29 minutes (and decreasing) due to weather
arrival delays for airborne aircraft of 46 minutes to 1 hours (and increasing)

John F Kennedy Internationalis currently experiencing:

all inbound flights being held at their origin until Thursday at 10:30PM EDT
inbound flights delayed at their origin an average of 4 hours 54 minutes due to wind
arrival delays for airborne aircraft of 31 minutes to 45 minutes (and increasing)

LaGuardia Airportis currently experiencing:

departure delays an average of 1 hours 47 minutes (and increasing)
arrival delays for airborne aircraft an average of 1 hours 56 minutes (and increasing)

Mass transit disruptions

New Jersey

New Jersey Transit’s Northeast Corridor and North Jersey Coast Line rail service was subject to up to 60-minute delays in both directions due to high water conditions near Newark International Airport station.

New Jersey Transit’s North Jersey Coast Line rail service was suspended for a time after a tree fell on top of wires in Woodbridge, New Jersey. Service has since resumed in both directions between Penn Station New York and Long Branch stations and but is subject to up to 20-minute delays.

Rail tickets and passes are being cross-honored by NJ Transit and private carrier buses and PATH at Newark Penn Station and 33rd St., New York.

New York City

MTA Bridges and Tunnels announced that due to ongoing high wind conditions, the agency will be implementing the prohibition of certain vehicles from using MTA Bridges and Tunnels crossings as weather develops.

The current restrictions include:

Cross Bay Bridge – ban on empty tractor trailers and tandem trucks, shared use path closed

Marine Parkway Bridge – ban on empty tractor trailers and tandem trucks, shared use path closed

Verrazzano-Narrows Bridge – ban on all tractor trailers and tandem trucks, cars pulling trailers, house trailers, minibuses, motorcycles, any other vehicle deemed a potential safety hazard

Throgs Neck Bridge – ban on empty tractor trailers and tandem trucks
