Over 2,000 people were on hand for this year’s event, including more than 140 exhibitors showcasing their products, services and innovations in various industries, as well as more than 25 restaurants from Citi Field’s Taste of Queens Pavilion.

Some of the highlights of the event were a panel discussion, “MWBE: Today’s Challenges – Tomorrow’s Victories,” breakout programming presented in partnership with the New York City Department of Small Business Services and a luncheon.
“We had over 2,000 people register, 145 tables. The lunch was sold out with 175 people, and we talked all about MWBEs and minority opportunities. It’s a great, great place to be in Queens right now,” Queens Chamber of Commerce President and CEO Tom Grech said. “I think we’ve had more and more people saying they’re making some great connections today. People that sell certain things, people that buy certain things.”

One of the notable sessions at this year’s Queens Business Expo was “M/WBE Certification 101,” which was designed to help businesses owned by minorities and women better understand the certification process and access contracting opportunities in New York City. Guidance was offered on navigating certification and working with City agencies.
New York Mets legend Dwight Gooden made a special appearance at the event, greeting attendees and visiting several exhibitor tables.
