A BELOVED restaurant with stunning views of New York City has permanently closed to make way for a new steakhouse.
The closure comes amid nation-wide struggles with the cost of living and restaurants facing steep operating costs.

A longstanding waterfront restaurant in Weehawken, New Jersey closed its doors permanently on Friday, May 15.
The Chart House, known for its stunning view of the New York City skyline, was one of Hudson County’s top special occasion dining choices, according to Hoboken Girl.
In addition to it’s location on Lincoln Harbor directly across from Manhattan, the Chart House was known for its seafood dishes, prime rib, and happy hour, making it a great destination for celebratory dinners.
Now, the Weehawken location has been removed from the Chart House website.

Despite the closure, Weehawken will not lose out on the upscale steakhouse market.
The iconic Lincoln Harbor space will be renovated and reopen next year as Mastro’s Steakhouse, according to Patch News.
“We are excited to be bringing the Mastro’s experience to Weehawken!” the Mastro’s chain said in an announcement.
“Get ready to indulge in USDA Prime steaks, premium seafood and raw bar offerings, a spectacular seafood display, creative sushi, and decadent desserts, including the iconic warm Butter Cake.”
Mastro’s Steakhouse was started in Scottsdale, Arizona in 1999 with an emphasis on both exceptional food and ambiance, according to the restaurant’s website.
At the time of publication, there are 26 Mastro’s Steakhouse locations across the US.
Restaurant regulars reacted to the news online, with many sharing what occasions they would celebrate at Chart House.
“The chart house was our Easter dinner location / we were told this Easter by the server that they were closing,” one diner wrote.
“I know! My daughter told me yesterday! That was my mother’s day and birthday spot for 20+ years!” lamented another.
“Omg we frequented the chart house I still have plenty of pictures and personalized menus from special occasions!!!” chimed in yet another.
Chart House and Mastro’s Steakhouse are operated by the same parent company, Landry’s, Inc.
Landry’s, Inc. owns other well-known restaurants including Rainforest Cafe, Saltgrass Steakhouse, and Bubba Gump Shrimp Co.
A growing chicken chain is opening in the place of a former Dairy Queen.
