NEW YORK CITY (PIX11) — A big cleanup is underway after heavy downpours and thunderstorms created flash flooding across the area.
New York City was put under a severe weather warning on Wednesday as torrential downpours approached the area after a round of dangerous heat.

Drivers on the Long Island Expressway were forced to make U-turns and go against the traffic because of roadways blocked by flooding in Queens.
In Bushwick, Brooklyn, residents were seen trying to watch and drive through knee-high street flooding, while others tried to help clear catch basins.
