For the first time in more than three decades, Manhattan’s 12th Congressional District is facing an open race.
W42ST is focusing this reader survey on six candidates who have emerged as the most visible contenders in the Democratic primary: George Conway, Micah Lasher, Nina Schwalbe, Laura Dunn, Jack Schlossberg and Alex Bores. Photos: Phil O’Brien
Congressman Jerry Nadler, who has represented the West Side of Manhattan in Washington DC since the early 1990s, is retiring — leaving behind one of the most closely watched Democratic primaries in New York. The district includes Hell’s Kitchen, Chelsea, Midtown, the Upper West Side, the Upper East Side and other parts of central Manhattan, making the June 23 primary a rare chance for voters to choose a new voice in Washington.
