Schmigadoon! Asks Real New Yorkers: Would You Visit a Town Where Every Day Is a Musical?
The production went out on the streets of New York, bringing along a barbershop quartet and actors in costume.

Schmigadoon! doesn’t open on Broadway until spring 2026, but its marketing campaign is well underway. Last week, the much-anticipated musical did some guerilla-style marketing by bringing its Schmigadoon Tourism Board to the people of New York, where it encouraged passerbys to get away from the hustle of the big city and visit the very-real town of Schmigadoon, where the folks are friendly, there’s no microplastics, and breaking out into song is encouraged.
There was an old-timey bicycle cart, pamphlets and postcards, and a very energetic spokesperson named Jacob (who was also dressed like a leprechan). And of course there was singing; a barbershop quartet was on deck to sing the unofficial (and Emmy-winning) anthem of Schmigadoon, “Corn Puddin.'”
Surprisingly, real New Yorkers were up for visiting Schmigadoon (granted, some of them would only do it if they were paid $100, but that’s a start!). See how real New Yorkers responded to this invitation, and their surprisingly enthusiastic reaction to going to a place where “every day is a musical,” in the video below. Plus, stick around until the end to see some familiar faces.Â
